Prostitute or Prophet?
So this could spark controversy with the title but this is somewhat geared towards church leaders, organization leaders, or truly anyone. I think everyone can benefit from reading this one! This whole thing started with a conversation i had with a pastor who is constantly trying to please his congregation that it is weighing him down. Which gave this thought of prostitutes and prophets. I know what your thinking, "Why did he think about prostitutes?" but hang in there with me
See a prostitute collects pay for pleasing people. Unfortunately many churches in America today have pastors that are "prostitutes". I say that term loosely so I don't offend any pastors out there but it's true. They enter work and collect a pay check, but as long as my congregation is happy I'm doing my job. They become so consumed with church attendance but forget about repentance. They lack the boldness to stand up and lead how God commands them to because they might lose members. Hey pastors, if they leave your church, it's all good because when the word of God is preached with Boldness people will come.
Galatians 1:10 " Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ."
Which leads us into the concept of a prophet, who looked at the people God instructed them to and said " This is what the LORD, your God says". What separated them is that they followed what God said wholeheartedly and did what He told them. If the prophets would have listened to the people around them, then they would have been following man not God. So why is it that most churches are receding from the foundational principals of bold preaching?
It is the overwhelming desire to be a people pleaser, but what we neglect to realize is we arent made to please everyone just God. But pastors and church leaders when you have the audacity to stand up and say, "no more sugar coating, sin is sin, This is what the Lord says" God will begin to do something radical within your home, your church and your community.
I pray that you will ask God for the courage to stop being a people pleaser and start preaching God's word with audacity and boldness!
